Seasonal recipes provide a comforting rhythm to life. I make a version with sweet juicy oranges in winter and in summer I make batches with ripe peaches. Regardless of the season I somehow always drink this over ice.
Truly one of those simple to follow recipes, the hardest part is waiting several weeks until it is ready to drink.
Slice up oranges and place these in the base of a clean jar.
Add sugar and white wine to a saucepan and bring just to the boil.
Take off the heat, add brandy to the wine and pour the lot over the sliced oranges.
Once cooled completely, fix the lid in place. Keep in a cool, dark spot (the back of a cupboard works) and in 40-50 days it’s ready to drink.
Strain and keep in the fridge drinking sooner rather than later.
